The Postnatal Care Access & Support Initiative (PCASI by La Mere) is a community-based maternal and newborn health program aimed at improving access to quality and affordable postnatal care in deprived communities within Koforidua and Accra.
Despite Ghana’s progress in maternal healthcare, many women in underserved communities still
face financial, informational, and systemic barriers to postnatal care.
This initiative adopts a multi-sectoral approach, combining:
- Financial Assistance
- Advocacy
- Community Sensitization
- Research
- Psychosocial Wellbeing
- partnerships
to strengthen postnatal outcomes for mothers and newborns.
Program Goal
- To reduce postnatal morbidity and mortality by ensuring that mothers and newborns,especially from underserved communities, have access to affordable, timely, and quality postnatal healthcare service.
